Dedicated Encrypted Transponder is a secure data transfer device created by the CIA Tech ops division. Once the device and enter a range of 5 feet they can be hot-synched with each other allowing data to be transferred discreetly and securely. The device was disguised as a blackberry cell phone. In the Pilot, Annie Walker is given a transponder and sent to the Capitol Grand Hotel to meet with FSB sniper Stanislav Orlovski to exchange data. Stas sends a decoy to meet with Annie and after the devices hot-sync, he killed the decoy and forces Annie to retreat. A third dedicated encrypted transponder is created so Annie can return to the scene of the crime and download the information on the other two devices. After the hot-sync occurred the remaining devices would only display harm with phonebooks and would become part of the FBI’s evidence.
